Cashew market continues to be quiet

According to the FoodBizDaily (July 7 2009), cashew market continues to be quiet – no change in prices which are around 2.85 for W240, around 2.55 for W320, around 2.30 for W450 but very little business reported in the last two weeks At current levels, there is a fair amount of interest from importers (for nearbys AND forwards) but processors prefer to sell limited quantities at intervals with a view to averaging their order book. They are reluctant to take big positions because (1) most of the RCN has been purchased at high prices and current level is just about parity (2) there is no replacement RCN available for next few months (3) traditionally, RCN prices in last quarter are higher than middle of the year – there is hardly any RCN available in the first quarter (4) they have seen that in last few months, each spurt of activity has seen prices settling at slightly higher level.
